Who's at fault and what's the next step?

Dear players!

 

We are currently experiencing unexpected server crashes.
I want to emphasize. Precisely unexpected , since all the work before the opening was done, namely:

  • Both servers are running on the best server machines. The load on physical servers is acceptable. There is no point in expanding at this point.
  • Both servers have the best available network infrastructure and channels. This means that the packets sent by your Game Clients reach the server are processed and returned at optimal speed. There is no point in expanding at this point.
  • The server base is on the best SSD drives, stored in RAM and shows good performance. There were problems with this at the start, but after 2 days we were able to prepare the update and physically install it on the servers. There is no point in expanding at this point.
  • The server core (software) was rewritten so that it could work with 48 cores/threads. Previously, the server could only work with 8. We inherited this. In order for it to work exactly like this, the huge part of the server core was rewritten. This is a huge job.

- If everything is so fucking awesome, then why is the server crashing?

Everything is difficult and easy at the same time.
As we said earlier, the original server build is not physically designed for such online environments. We have been working with this for many years and improving its throughput and increasing the potential online that it can hold. Here the work will last forever, but if you close your eyes to the falls, there are actually fewer lags. Any player who played MW1-MW3 will confirm this with confidence.
At the moment we are faced with a bottleneck in the amount of online traffic at one location. This is an eternal “bug” of the kernel, which we have already improved and expanded several times. However, every year we still run into this place. And even if we divided the 4th season of MasterWork into 2 servers, we still could not solve this with confidence. This is where the crashes and other lags come from.

While I am writing this message (literally), the kernel developers are currently rolling out another round of optimization and improvement.
Literally what you saw on Core has already been fixed. Now we fix the next problem.

 

We do not shift responsibility to anyone, but we want you to know that this was not due to the negligence or “overzealousness” of the administration. 
We apologize for the server crash, all compensation will be issued after the work is completed. However, the best compensation and promise we can give you is that we are working right now to eliminate such errors. And we will finish the job.
We really hope that for this the server will not have to crash once or twice more, but even if so, we will still finish the work and all subsequent events will not interfere with players who do not participate in them from enjoying the game, and thus those who are directly involved will receive the expected emotions and gaming experience.
